Handlebars
Since its introduction, the most common feedback on our Ergonova drop bar was “don’t change a thing”. But observing how our customers ride, we noticed many spend considerable time holding the bars in the corner section, especially while climbing. Designing the corners specifically for this function has created a bar that is supremely comfortable not only on the tops and the drops, but also in this intermediate position. Further redesigns to the hood and drop shapes to accommodate the latest shift/brake levers help to create the new standard in ergonomics

All Box handlebars are engineered and crafted using our Oversized Technology. Handlebars have a dual purpose as they contribute to both steering and pedaling stiffness. By strategically varying wall thicknesses and tube diameters, we have moved material from 3 low-stress areas to zones of high load. This has greatly minimized twists and contributed to responsiveness. Concurrently we have increased pedaling stiffness by providing a backstop to the “lifting” phenomenon. There is no point pushing hard on your pedals if you can’t pull up on your handlebars and deliver that power. Power can easily be lost to handlebar deflection and the consequences can lead to poor power delivery and steering control. When combined with Box’s other Oversized components, you’ll experience heightened responsiveness and reduced latency.
Key differences: This particular model handlebar is tailored for larger-sized racers and also takes our application of Oversized Technology one step further as it employs a tougher chromium molybdenum steel. This allows for a greater variation of wall thicknesses to combat the higher loads coming from that extra rider weight.
FEATURES
- Oversized™ Technology
- Chromoly Steel - Toughest Handlebar Material In • Lineup
- Massive Clamp Interface for Steering Stiffness
- 13 Butted - Variable Wall Thickness to Reduce Weight
Like the Box One™ Chromoly handlebars, Flat Chromoly bars are super stiff and custom-made from the highest quality 4130 chrome-molybdenum. They feature a proprietary 13-butted taper from 22.2 Ø at the grip area to 31.8 Ø across the clamp area. The incredible stiffness of the 31.8 oversize bar improves bike handling while putting more power into your pedal stroke. Flat Chromoly bars, however, have a very flat 3-degree back sweep.

Burgtec's first range of signature handlebars developed with, yes you've guessed it! Josh Bryceland.
Josh loved the sweep and rise of the Ride Wide Bars but asked us to make him something a bit higher. The Rat isn't one of those guys that's 'crazy' on setup, but he knows what he wants.
- 38MM RISE:
Back in 2018 Josh's idea was for something more versatile that he could use on all his bikes. After testing various prototypes, he finally narrowed it down to a 38mm rise bar, the perfect sweet spot. The first material thought was Carbon but after getting to ride various Alloy prototypes he just got more comfortable on Alloy.
So, the 38mm "Ride High" was born. The same unsurpassed comfort and durability as all of the Ride Wide range, but just a little Higher.
- 50MM RISE:
It's fair to say high rise bars have taken a back seat over the last decade much in part to the increasing wheel sizes pushing up front ends of bikes and riders trying to match their previous riding positions.
After first coming to us a little over 3 years ago and deciding on the 38mm rise bar Josh wanted to quite literally raise the bar once again.
We'd previously prototyped the 50mm bar alongside the 38s but at the time just felt they looked out of place. With more riders moving towards 29ers we felt the market just wasn't ready for them.
Josh quickly adapted to the 38s but still felt he was running a lot of stack on his bikes. So with more frequency, he was popping in to Burgtec HQ asking if we had any of the 50mm rise bars left.
In the end, we ran out of prototype bars, and Rats a very persuasive guy so we just decided to go into production with the 50s.
For Josh, he loves how the higher rise allows for more maneuverability as well as getting rid of the excess stack height.
Plus, being a taller rider, they keep his weight where he wants it and freely admits "It's easier on my back".
The bars are a natural fit for Jump bikes but as Josh and the boys show they are equally at home on bigger travel trail bikes too.
